Year 9

Students will study a scheme of learning based on performing a scripted play. Students focus on William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, as well as Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers. Once students have developed skills of performing with a script, they are then challenged to work autonomously to create their own devised pieces based around a specific stimuli. By stretching and challenging students to work independently, it prepares them for Drama GCSE Unit 3, within which they devise their own pieces based around a stimulus provided by the exam board.

Assessment is through written home learning assignments, classroom activities and an assessed performance, as well as a written exam designed on GCSE Exam Specifications.
